Pavement that is appropriate for preventive maintenance applications includes systems that are relatively new, when preservation of the pavement system remains cost effective. These pavement systems will generally be 3 to 7 years old, and may be experiencing the earlyearly stages of deficiencies, such as surface raveling and pavement cracking.

Protecting asphalt pavement systems from environmental factors, such as water penetration into the base through cracks and fissures, along with oxidation of the pavement’s upper surface, can add years to the life of the pavement system. Preventive maintenance isn’t effective for pavement that exhibits structural deficiencies or failures.

As a facility owner or manager, the objective of protecting your pavement investment should start with planning a pavement-management program.

The approach for parking-lot-asphalt pavement-management programs should always include cracksealing as a preventive maintenance measure. Crackfilling is one alternative to consider, and it has a distinctly different meaning.

Residential Paving

For the New Jersey Homeowner

Are you thinking about repaving your driveway? If so, perhaps you should give us a call first. Honestly, why would you invest in a brand new paving job when you can implement an “asphalt maintenance program” and seal and save! When Budget Paving arrives to seal your driveway wefollow a set of procedures that guarantees long-lasting performance.

We’ll “Prep” your driveway to make sure it’s ready for repaving.

For example, we’ll:

  • Trim or edge grass where needed
  • Rout cracks where applicable
  • Clean dirty areas and cracks
  • Fill cracks to make as flush as possible
  • Prep oil spots where needed
  • Apply adhesion promoter where needed

Once we have your driveway adequately “prepared” for maintenance, we’ll:

  • Brush sealer around aprons, landscaping, sidewalks, etc
  • Squeegee and/or spray on seal coat with high loads of sand and rubber
  • Rope off drive during the curing process (2-4 days, depending on humidity)

After that, we’ll help you implement a long-term “maintenance” program to help you keep your asphalt driveway looking new for many years to come.

We’ll mail out maintenance reminders after three to four years. The bottom line is … With Driveway Seal Coating from Budget Paving preventative maintenance does not cost – it pays!

F.A.Q.'s

A few quick Questions & Answers about asphalt paving
Q: WHAT TIME OF YEAR CAN MY NEW DRIVEWAY OR PARKING LOT BE INSTALLED?
A: Weather plays a big role in the asphalt industry. The typical paving season starts in May when the temperatures are steadily above freezing and ends in November when the cold weather moves in to stay.
Q: HOW MUCH WILL A NEW DRIVEWAY COST?
A: In the New Jersey area, most driveways/parking lots cost between $1.50 & $3.50 a square foot. Budget Paving can provide you a detailed estimate on your specific project free of charge.
Q: HOW LONG WILL A ASPHALT DRIVEWAY LAST?

A: The typical asphalt driveway can last up to 20 years. An important factor in the longevity of a driveway is the stability of the base and the quality of the asphalt mix.

Q: HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO INSTALL A NEW DRIVEWAY?

A: The typical driveway requires 2 days of on-site work. The first day is for preparation (removal, grading, etc.) and the second day is when the hot asphalt would be paved. The whole process could take a couple of days, up to a few weeks; depending on schedules, weather and/or other factors.
Q: WHEN CAN MY DRIVEWAY BE DRIVEN ON AFTER CONSTRUCTION STARTS?

A: Once the prep work is complete, most drives will allow for light automobile traffic until paving starts. After paving is complete, it is recommended to keep all car traffic off of the new asphalt for at least 3 days and even longer during warmer temperatures.
